Big Jack takes out Cedar Drive
A fine day greeted runners for the running of a long-standing race on the Bendigo University Athletics Club calendar, the Cedar Drive Dash. In the 7km course, Jack Doering was able to hold off a large number of challengers over the final kilometres to register his first win for the season in a time of 39:47. Gary Crouch is starting to hit some form and ran home strongly to finish second in a time of 28:58 while new member and top triathlete Jaclyn Munge finished third in 28:17. Lee McCullagh ran fastest time for the course in 24:56.
The 3km course saw young gun Maddy Evely continue her strong summer form and register a win in 12:00 ahead of Matisse Perez and Isabella Douglass. Ben Connor, on his first run back from injury was fastest in 11:00.
The club crowned another first time champion in 2010 with Sam Thompson winning the 1km in a time of 4:32. Not too far behind was Dylan Evans and Sam’s sister Imogen who ran a time of 5:27. Bailey Evans powered around the course in a lightning quick 3:26 for the 1km.
Next weeks race will be the Rifle Range Rattle which will be run out in Junortoun. To get there: travel out McIvor Highway and turn left at Popes Road (Farmers Arm’s corner) and follow the signs. Distances will be 8km, 3.4km and 1km. A map can be found on the website.
